The Details

What's It All About?

Call it a pet project. I am quite fond of slash. However, since I don't watch much tv, I'm even more fond of original character slash and well-written original character slash tends to be hard to find. It is often buried on the authors' personal homepages and doesn't get nearly as much exposure as slash fanfiction. There seems to be a need for a central archive and I hope this will be it.

Submission Guidelines

Yes, this archive accepts submissions! However, submitting your story does not guarantee inclusion in the archive. The Webmistress (i.e. me) reserves the right to refuse any story. If you already have your fiction featured on a personal web site, you might want to e-mail the appropriate link to me ( - spam-protected javascript link) before going to the trouble of reformatting your file to meet the submission requirements. I will then review the story and let you know whether or not I want to archive it at this time.

Similarly, if you know of a great original slashy story that should be archived here, please e-mail (spam-protected javascript link) so that I can extend an invitation to the author in question. I'm not above begging anyone to let me host their stories ;-).

Types of Stories this Archive Doesn't Accept

This list may be added to as I discover new squicks.

Submission Requirements

First of all, please submit only stories that have been thoroughly spell-checked and proofread for grammar. Get a beta-reader if possible. I'm the kind of person that will turn down a terrific story with an amazing plot because I can't cope with the typos or verb-subject disagreement. Really.

Secondly, I'll gladly accept segments of ongoing series, but each chapter should be self-contained and wrap up any loose ends to the extent that if the series were to finish there, yours truly wouldn't pound the walls in frustration. I really, really resent cliffhanger endings followed by months without update due to writer's block and consequently won't accept WIPs or unfinished stories for the archive.

Thirdly, to make my life easier, all stories must be submitted either as plain text files, or as html files into which the archive stylesheet can be linked.

If you choose to submit an html file, please note that fonts, backgrounds, headings and margins are specified by the Story Stylesheet, which will be linked into every file. The stylesheet has explanatory comments inserted: feel free to download a copy. Please do not use any html tags that override any of the style specifications of the stylesheet!

Regardless of the format of your file, please list the following information as a byline immediately underneath the title of your story: Your name (may include a mailto: link or, if you prefer, a spam-protected javascipt link) and the link to your personal web site if available. You may also list a dedication.

Please e-mail (spam-protected javascript link) with any formatting questions you have.

The following additional information should be provided in the body of your e-mail:

Submissions should be sent to (spam-protected javascript link).

Rating Guide

For lack of a better system, I'm going to use the usual U.S. movie-rating system here. I don't like it much, but hey, you need something, right? At least it was suggested to me that some people would only like to read the more vanilla stories. Ahem. Right.

G

No nudity, sex, or drug use, minimal violence, mostly harmless conversation. The kind of story you'd be able to read to your vicar without blushing...

PG

No explicit sex or drug use, only brief non-sexual nudity, moderate violence. The kind of story you could read to your nephew without blushing...

PG-13

No explicit sex, brief nudity, moderate violence, some non-explicit drug use, cussing. The kind of story you could read to your parents without blushing...

R

Adult themes, violence, non-explicit sex, drug use, adult language. The kind of story you could read to your good adult friends without blushing too badly...

NC-17

Explicit sex scenes, explicit language, excessive violence. The kind of story you'd read with the doors firmly locked...
